What can we expect from Smart Cities?

Some of the world's most important cities, such as Seoul, Paris, and Chicago, are rapidly adapting to the internet of things. These cities are looking for new ways to connect to the community in order to increase value and depth, and to be known as Smart Cities. Another option for smart cities is to create them from scratch. Songdo, in Korea, is one of the most outstanding international examples. It boasts 80,000 apartments as well as large commercial and retail areas.

We should consider how we can embrace new Australian cities that are built from scratch. Cities, not suburbs, would be better than suburban areas. What would they require? Jones Lang LaSalle, TEDx interviewed over 200 professionals to determine their top four priorities Capital smart city.

A sense of community

We want:

  • To belong and to have the facilities that support our lifestyles.

  • Facilities to meet for sports, social needs and interest groups.

  • Online child care, school enrichment and special needs programs so that the community can volunteer to help the children.

  • To interact with the local council in support of enhanced local services.

Seoul's online Sharing Hub promotes local businesses and organizations that provide sharing services. This hub is designed to make sharing information more accessible to citizens faster and easier.

Well-being and health

Western medicine is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of illness. GMO foods and air quality are more important than healthy eating habits for peak vitality and longevity. To balance our hectic lives, we need space to exercise, meditate, and contemplate. Access to primary health information about lifestyle, diet, and joy is essential.

Social cohesion can be defined as the willingness to work together in order for a society's survival and prosperity. We want to be open to all of our differences and bring prosperity to our community. This can be done through networking to purchase local produce, have our child picked from sports or music practice and delivered in a safe environment; or care for the elderly.

ChangebyUS NYC lets individuals join or create a city project. There are hundreds of projects available, ranging from community gardening and food to biking lanes and urban design. The website contains more than 120 resources, including OASIS (an open community mapping site), the city council's program for community clean-up, and Green City Force which prepares young people to work in the clean energy sector.

Entrepreneurship refers to the act of creating, creating, and realizing new business opportunities or social ventures. It can be either commercial, social, or environmental. As new job sectors emerge, they are outsourced and automated within a decade. This is changing the way we do work. We will see more specialization of services, and entrepreneurs supports specialists moving between projects as needed with work from home periods.

Many top cities are encouraging entrepreneurship. Business used to be run by processing information. The internet of things has brought people closer through sharing of information. Now we want to meet face-to-face to encourage interaction and entrepreneurship. Our smart city needs to provide quick access to places that allow for interaction. This is the foundation for entrepreneurship, which leads to productivity and economic success.
